The Ohsas 18001 certification,  Health and safety Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS), is an international standard specifying requirements for an occupational health and safety management system.

Ohsas 18001 certification: a voluntary certification

OHSAS 18001 certification is voluntary.
Every business is free to choose which and how many improvement objectives it wants to pursue, also on the basis of its financial means and the level of technology achieved.

Ohsas 18001 certification: why a business should obtain it?

The main reasons for which a business should obtain OHSAS 18001 certification include:
  • better prevention and reduction in the number of incidents in the workplace;
  • greater control over the workplace;
  • reduction in direct and indirect costs due to downtime following incidents;

OHSAS 18001 certification can be integrated with:

=> ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Initial certification audit (Stage 1 and Stage 2);
  • Issue of certificate valid for three after following resolution of the Certification Committee;
  • Surveillance audits 6 months, 15 months and 24 months after the initial audit;
  • Recertification.
