UKCA certification

The agreement signed with BBA allows the manufacturers to obtain, through the activities performed by IG, the UKCA certification for the products for which BBA is recognized.

This means that if the factory production control (FPC) has been alreday assessed by IG in accordance with VVCP 1 or 2+, it will not be necessary to carry out additional audits for obtaining the UKCA certification.
In case of VVCP 1 it will not even be necessary to perform additional testing.

Please refer to following table for the products and standards covered by the agreement with BBA.

The British Board of Agrément (BBA)  is a UKAS accredited Certification Body established in Watford (UK) having the following recognitions for the UKCA certifications:
- “Approved Body”;
- “TAB (Technical Assessment Body)”.

What is the UKCA marking
The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK product marking which will replaces the CE marking and it will be used for the products placed on market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) after the Brexit.

When Does the UKCA marking for construction products come into effect
UKCA marking and certification is already in force and it will become mandatory from 1st July 2025.
From this date only products bearing this marking shall be accepted in Great Britain. The obligations are substantially the same while the reference standards will be the BS and not the European (EN) versions. The only accepted language for the Declarations of Performance (DoP) of the products is English.

What are the main changes for a manufacturer ?
From 1st January 2021 the UK notified bodies that operate under CPR have obtained the new status of “UK approved Bodies”. The manufacturer (or his auithorized representative) will be allowed to affix the UKCA marking only if the conformity assessment will be carried out by an approved body.
