What is the UNI EN ISO 3834?

Iso 3834 certification for welding

Istituto Giordano is an ACCREDIA-accredited welding certification body in accordance with standards UNI EN ISO 3834-2, UNI EN ISO 3834-3 and UNI EN ISO 3834-4.

Standard welding certification UNI EN ISO 3834 is a guide specifying the quality requirements for correct management of welding processes used in manufacturing.

Iso 3834 certification: the standard requirements

The standard in the welding certification consists of:

Part 1: Guide for selection and use
Part 2: Comprehensive quality requirements
Part 3: Standard quality requirements
Part 4: Elementary quality requirements
Part 5: Documents with which it is necessary to conform to claim conformity to the quality requirements of ISO 3834-2, ISO 3834-3 or ISO 3834-4
Part 6: ISO/TR 3834-6 Guidelines for the implementation of ISO 3834.

The standard dor welding certification is designed to be used for manufacturing, both in workshops and at field installation sites, of any type of fusion welded construction.

UNI EN ISO 3834 integrates seamlessly with UNI EN ISO 9001, as the former covers manufacturing process control and the latter quality system management.

  • Initial certification audit;
  • Issue of certificate valid for three years after resolution of the Certification Committee;
  • Annual surveillance;
  • Recertification.
The standard specifies the requirements that a business needs to fulfil in order to produce “quality” welding and obtain the iso 3834 certification.

Manufactured metal products may range from simple to complex and include domestic equipment, cranes, bridges and vehicle parts.

As a rule, standards from the ISO 9000 family are designed for application of a management system providing consistent quality capable of ensuring that the various processes are carried out in the most effective way. As regards standard ISO 9001, welding processes, coatings, manufacture of composites, etc, are considered “special processes” since the quality of a product cannot be readily verified but has to be built in..

Therefore special checks and requirements are necessary, along with suitable expertise before, during and after welding. Such considerations have led to the development of a specific welding certification standard known as ISO 3834 (formerly EN 729).
