ECB•S Certification for burglary resistance products

The European Certification Body GmbH (ECB) is a neutral certification body performing testing, certification and quality control of security technology.
ECB•S Certification guarantees that the products bearing its mark have been tested to the most exacting standards covering burglary resistance, fire resistance and quality of the materials utilised.

ECB was set up by ESSA, International Security Association, the physical security industry’s leading international association founded in Germany in the 1960s, that has significantly influenced the standardisation of mechanical secure storage units, initially in Germany and then increasingly on the European and international market.

In order to carry out the tests needed to obtain ECB•S Certification, the European Certification Body accredits leading European laboratories as recognized cooperation partners, including Istituto Giordano.

In order to obtain this accreditation, cooperation partners are expected to meet maximum quality standards and basic requirements are:

• Accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17065
• A quality management system
• Auditing by an ECB expert
• Comparison tests in the respective field of competence
