PED - Pressure equipment

   PED (Pressure Equipment Directive)
 
Istituto Giordano is ACCREDIA-accredited for ce certificate of conformity with the essential safety requirements for pressure equipment, applying the assessment procedures specified by Directive 2014/68/EU (PED).
 
The PED applies to the design, manufacture and conformity assessment of pressure equipment and assemblies with a maximum allowable pressure greater than 0.5 bar.

On the other hand, the Directive does not apply to the equipment mentioned under article 1.3 therein (e.g. cans for carbonated drinks, radiators and pipes in warm water heating systems).
 
The PED:

• allows export and import of CE-marked pressure equipment within the EU without additional approval from inspection bodies;
• allows a manufacturer operating a Quality System approved by a notified body to utilise certification procedures that do not require the said notified body to inspect the product in question;
• makes it easier to obtain insurance cover if facilities contain CE-marked pressure equipment;
• enables direct “putting into service” without for need for an initial start-up test”.
