CE mark for recreational craft and components

With reference to Directive 2003/44/EC, Istituto Giordano iusses conformity assessment documents  to the craft of hull length from 2.5 to 24 meters and components referred to in Directive 94/25/EC as amended by 2003 / 44/CE.
The above Directive is modular, meaning it uses different procedures for assessing precisely such "modules"
 
Definitions:
  • Recreational craft: means any building of any type and with any means of propulsion, for sports and leisure purposes
  • Recreational craft: means any boat of hull length from 10 m to 24 m, measured according to the harmonised standard 
  • DoC: Declaration of Conformity stating that the craft complies with the essential requirements of Directive 2003/44/EC. The DoC is prepared and signed by manufacturer or his authorized representative established within the European Community or the person established within the Community who place the product on the market, and/or puts into servic e (PCA - Post Construction Assessment)
  • Conformity assessment modules: Standard procedures for assessing the conformity of recreational craft and components in respect of the essential requirements for the design and construction; they are chosen by manufacturer or his authorized representative established within the European Community or the person established within the Community who place the product on the market, and/or puts into service, in relation to the design category and length unit to be certified.
  • Components:
    • Ignition-protected equipment for inboard and stern drive engines;
    • Start-in-gear protection devices for outboard engines;
    • Steering wheels, steering mechanisms and cable assemblies;
    • Fuel tanks intended for fixed installations and fuel hoses;
    • Prefabricated hatches and portlights.

Conformity assessment documents iussed by Istituto Giordano: Type and Validity
The issuance and maintenance of documents of compliance is tied to the success of the modular conformity assessment procedures (modules) selected by the Applicant.
For each module are established the applicable conformity documents and procedures for issuing and maintenance; the identification of documents issued and their validity are shown in the following table:
